Learning how to be… a teacher, writer, husband, son, father, homeowner, petowner.

I am not a veteran teacher by any stretch. I don’t claim to have any insights in how to teach properly. This blog is simply my reflections about my new challenges as an educational technologist.

I spent from 1996 – 2005 working on and off on my post-secondary degrees. I graduated from the University of Calgary in 2005 with two B.A.’s (English with a concentration in creative writing and Religious Studies). I also have a Professional Writing Certificate from Mount Royal College. My B. Ed is from the University of Alberta.

After my first two degrees, I went to teach English as a second language in South Korea. I had a great gig and traveled all over Asia for two and a half years. I had only planned on teaching, but got moved into Admin after a few months. It was a challenge to pick curriculum and hire teachers, but I did enjoy all my time in Korea.

I am trying my best this year to be a forward thinking teacher. I’m allowing myself room to make mistakes and learn from them.
